Have you ever wanted to get involved into ecommerce business?
It’s a multi billion thing, you know that I suppose. And all these billions are flowing all around us, why wouldn’t we grasp a bit?
Big names are crushing it
Amazon, Ebay, Ali, … I’m sure you’ve heard of them. Well, they are actually all around us. What makes them interesting for us “normal people” is that they each have something called affiliate program. This means – in short – that they allow you to promote their products, giving you commission for sales. Not a bad business, but it takes some time – and work, oh yes. It’s far from simple making a nice ecom site work as expected, believe me, I’m trying for some time now.
This affiliate programs pay you anywhere from 1% to some 10% commissions, depending on the products you manage to sell. So, in short, if you sell 1,000$ worth of goods, you earn on average 50$. The problem is that selling a 1,000$ worth of goods produces some costs also (like advertising, I’m not counting hours of work…), so if you’re selling small items like dog collars, you must sell 50 or more. And advertising can easily eat 20-30$ or even more, so basically, you’re left with almost nothing in the end. Hm. Something’s wrong here.
Well, it gets better when you learn how to select the products and manage the advertising platforms. But still you have to invest a lot before you get anywhere near the success they’ve promised you, you know.
So how can you and I do it?
There’s a number of ecom site builders around; some are WordPress plugins, some are SAAS platforms, and so on. One other thing we can try is a platform called Shopify – a great platform actually, but still, there’s so much work involved. And when you do all the work, well, you have to find good poducts to sell, right?
Then, there’s another business model that is interesting: ecommerce using dropshiping. What it means is you find a partner somewhere (China, for instance) that is willing to ship for you, then you sell his products. When you receive orders, you create an order to the partner, and he does the shipping for you. So, no touching the products, just emails.
What’s the difference then?
Here it is: you can easily find products that cost a few bucks and sell them for a few more. Got it? It means you can switch from 1-10% commissions to 50-100% commissions (and even more in some cases). Does it sound better?
Still, it takes work, don’t make any mistakes. You have to find a partner (suplier) that is willing to do it, you have to select good products, and – of course – you still need a nice website. Advertising costs are much easier to bear once you start with higher commissions, but again, you have to start.
A solution?
Few days ago a product launched that promises to fix these problems for you. It’s called Drop Gecko.
What they offer in a package is a SAAS platform where you create your store, fill it with best selling products, and earn. So far so the same, right?
Wrong.
They did it differently. What this platform offers is a connection to AliExpress (check it if you’ve never heard of them), giving you best selling products to include in any niche, plus they make ordering from the suplier a one-click business. What?!?
Drop Gecko Features
Inside the patform, you get to choose the products that have best seller status on AliExpress. Once you find them, you simply export them into a csv file and import them into Drop Gecko. Along the way, you can choose what margin you want on them, and that’s it. You have a store full of products.

Once you collect orders from the customers online, which pay you immediately to your Paypal account, you just go into orders, click a button and order the products from the suplier. The final delivery address is passed automatically, so all you have to do is pay to the suplier and that’s it.
The best thing is the remaining money on your account – like we said, can easily be half of what you received. Now this is much much better.
It comes down to 3 steps.
Select
You select the products you wisth to sell in your store, and transfer them into the store via export features. You receive a csv file that you can directly import into the store, so very little work to do and fast results.
Markup
When you upload your products, you decide what markup you want to have. Meaning, how much you want to earn. You can either input a percentage of the purchase price or a fixed value (like 10$).
Fulfill
This is easy, as all you have to do is transfer your received orders into the suplier order and pay for it. The suplier will do the rest.
Testing
I bought Drop Gecko and started building a store a day ago. One thing that delays it a bit is AliExpress confirmation as an affiliate, because I did not have an account before. It takes around 48 hours (AliExpress support response), so I’ll only be able to finish it today or even tomorrow.
What I’ve been able to do so far seems easy and simple to do. I’ve done all the settings input, I should get my logo ready today for upload, that’s it. Once I’m confirmed by AliExpress I’ll be able to finish the shop and start advertising. Then, I’ll know whether I chose the right way of advertising to make some real money.
All in all, it all comes to the fact that for any 1$ you put into advertising, you should be able to get 1.5$ or more back. Now this is really not bad.
The verdict
The platform seems nice and user-friendly, settings seem logical and the included training looks good and goes deep enough. Taking it’s early bird pricing into account (24$ as I’m writing this) it’s really a no-brainer, provided you mean to take action. If you just like the idea and will not start, you will not make any money. Period. But getting 24$ back with such a wide market – I don’t see problems there. And earning many times more is of course my target, and should be yours too.
I suggest you jump over and see what the fuss is all about, because only then will you be able to decide.
I have decided and am waiting for confirmation to start selling. Will I meet you somewhere online? 🙂
